You can support the SBL Volunteer Guild Scholarship Program with a general donation, an event sponsorship or by purchasing tickets to attend the event. Your support will help provide scholarships for up to 25 students pursuing degrees in a healthcare related field. Those choosing to sponsor at or above $500 will receive one-time naming rights for a scholarship, photos with the recipient during the awards ceremony, recognition on the SBL website, and Guild and Foundation communications related to the 2024 Cheers! event. You may choose from the following levels:

The first name drawn will choose between .75 carat total weight black and white diamond stud earrings, valued at $2,200 and donated by Towne Square Jewelers in Charleston, or 4 Green Seat Cardinals Baseball tickets for a mutually-agreed upon game with donor Roy Schmidt Honda in Effingham, valued at $1,200 that includes parking and other amenities.
Since 1979, the Volunteer Guild has awarded nearly $844,000 in scholarships in our 10-county service area to students who are pursuing their educations in medically-related fields. Qualified areas of study include, but are not limited to nursing, medical technology, radiology, physical therapy, pharmacy, dietetics, medical coding, and speech pathology. The school to be attended must be accredited or recognized as an approved program by the appropriate agencies. Scholarships are awarded for an academic year and are based on a student’s scholastic achievement, financial need and the availability of funds. This year’s scholarship application deadline is April 15, 2024. Selection of recipients is made in early May.
